Job Description

Electrical Engineer – Maintenance and Safety


£59-62k Per annum perm contract (Benefit package available)

Responsibilities Include:

  • Safety Stewardship: Demonstrate a commitment to safety by abiding by all company and site safety policies and procedures.
  • Incident Vigilance: Promptly report health, safety, and environmental concerns, near misses, and incidents via the site reporting system.
  • Safe System Advocate: Champion compliance with the site Safe System of Work; continually develop competence under the Safety Rules.
  • Equipment Custodianship: Ensure the correct operation and meticulous maintenance of all electrical apparatus.
  • Testing and Compliance Assurance: Oversee the testing of site electrical systems and apparatus in adherence to regulatory frequencies.
  • Maintenance Contracts Oversight: Organize and monitor maintenance contracts for specialized equipment, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Procurement Partnership: Recommend plant spares holdings to the Maintenance Manager, actively supporting procurement efforts.
  • Audit Collaboration: Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to support internal, external, and compliance audits, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Budgetary Leadership: Establish and operate within an Electrical section budget, demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
  • Obsolescence Planning: Develop plans for the phased-out electrical equipment and apparatus, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Cybersecurity Advocate: Actively contribute to enhancing cybersecurity measures and software baselining and backup strategies.
  • Interdisciplinary Support: Provide support to Mechanical, Controls, and Instrument Engineers as required and during absences, fostering teamwork.
  • Fault Resolution: Investigate faults on any part of the facility or plant, ensuring timely rectification, and provide progress briefings to management.
  • Line Management Leadership: Assume the role of line manager for the Electrical department, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

Person Specification:

Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Must be a qualified electrical engineer, holding a minimum of a Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of five years relevant experience post-qualification.
  • Broad experience in process electrical systems, encompassing both high and low voltage.
  • Proficient in the application and management of Electrical Driven Actuators and Motors.

Ability / Experience:

  • Ideally from a power station, process plant, or similar background.
  • Proven experience in managing a team, demonstrating effective leadership skills.
  • Track record of successfully managing multiple contractors and maintenance contracts.
  • Possesses self-discipline and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
