Job Description

Repair Technician

£25,000 – £30,000

Birmingham 

Our client, a leading provider specialising in the repair of screw compressor elements in the UK, operates in collaboration with various major air compressor distributors. The company also facilitates trade in related parts, supplies, and air ends for its customers.

Responsible to overhaul all types of air ends, blowers and related equipment as found in industrial and mobile air compressors.  Workshop based; no outside work expected. The position reports to the  Operations Director of the business unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection, evaluation and cleaning of incoming air ends,
  • Support report preparation with written notes and photographs,
  • Repair and rebuild air ends using own experience as well as supervision/instruction from the Lead Technician/Operations Manager,
  • Test, paint, despatch as required,
  • Additional responsibilities (subject to incumbent’s skills) forklift operation, machining, grinding, weld repair and fabrication, compressor service, repair of similar equipment.

Experience:

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 3–5 years in equipment service or machinery maintenance. Specific experience with the overhaul of air compressors, pumps or other rotating machinery would be beneficial.
  • High level of overall mechanical training and aptitude,
  • Experience with basic workshop machine tools,
  • Good understanding of mechanical equipment and how it works,
  • Experience working safely with lifting and machine tools,
  • Welding experience not specifically required but a key plus,
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, willing to perform all workshop functions in support of customer requirements,
  • Good communication skills, particularly to record evaluation findings and communicate within the team.
  • Applicable Engineering qualifications (eg City & Guilds Level 3) would be a plus.
